School Kills Creativity by Sir Ken Robinson

I knew Sir Ken Robinson for the first time from his video at TED.com which described about “How the school kills our creativity”. That video really open my eyes that our school actually not only have a role to develop our knowledge, but it might be also kills our creativity and critical thinking. Because when we were at the school, the hierarchy that been developed seems like insist us to study the subject that only useful for the job. Art, music and dance will be at the bottom of the hierarchy because of educator didn’t believe that it’s really useful for our future. Our educator believed that those who expert in academic subject must be the smart one. Conversely with those who expert in non-academic subject, our educator still believe that they will go nowhere.

This short insightful video will explain us the opinion of Sir Ken Robinson about the school and creativity, and how we should see our education system from another perspective. For all educators (including me), it’s a must to watch it!

“Imagination is the source of every form of human achievement. And it’s the one thing that I believe we are systematically jeopardizing in the way we educate our children and ourselves.”- Sir Ken Robinson
